March 24: A growing crackdown on illegally modified motorcycles in Pokhara has led to the seizure of 414 bikes, as police intensify enforcement under the ongoing ‘Operation 365’ campaign.
Launched by the District Police Office, Kaski, on Ashoj 10, the operation targets motorcycles altered to produce excessive noise and disrupt public order in the city. Authorities say such modifications have increasingly become a source of disturbance, particularly in Pokhara, a major tourist destination.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hari Bahadur Basnet, who also serves as the office’s Information Officer, 36 individuals have also been taken into action during the अभियान. Police teams continue active monitoring across the metropolitan area, with 10 more motorcycles confiscated on Chaitra 9 alone.
Basnet stated that the अभियान was initiated following multiple complaints from residents about modified motorcycles creating fear and nuisance in public spaces.
“We have increased surveillance in both urban and rural areas to control such activities,” he said, adding that legal proceedings have already begun against those involved.
Police have urged vehicle owners to maintain motorcycles in their original condition and warned garages and workshops against carrying out modification work. Authorities have also requested the public to report any such activities to nearby police offices.
Officials have made it clear that strict legal action will be taken against both riders and those involved in modifying vehicles, as the campaign continues across the district.
