348 Prisoners Return to Jail

Kaski, Gandaki – Out of 773 prisoners who left during the Gen-Z protests on Sept 8–9, 348 have returned. Some returned voluntarily, while others were apprehended by authorities. Efforts continue to locate the remaining 425 absconded inmates. Police urge the public to report sightings of escaped prisoners.


Janamat Leaders Quit En Masse

Kathmandu – Six senior office-bearers of the Janamat Party, including Abdul Khan, resigned, demanding leadership changes. They stepped down from both positions and party membership. The resigning leaders cited ignored demands and alleged insults toward Gen-Z protest sacrifices. They urge reforms for political transformation in the country.


NEPSE Closes Amid Drops

Kathmandu – NEPSE, Nepal’s stock benchmark, dropped 6%, triggering repeated negative circuits and forcing early closure. Trading started sharply down, losing 160.33 points to 2,511.91. Total volume traded was Rs 728.72 million. Market volatility reflects post-Gen-Z protest instability.


PM Karki Talks to Modi

Kathmandu – Prime Minister Sushila Karki spoke with Indian PM Narendra Modi, wishing him on his 75th birthday. Karki updated Modi on Nepal’s political developments and ongoing cooperation. Modi congratulated Karki and pledged continued support for Nepal. Bilateral relations and mutual concerns were also discussed.


Kaligandaki Corridor Progress

Baglung – The Gaindakot–Ramdi–Maldhunga section of the Kaligandaki Corridor has reached 80% physical progress. 134 km of 293 km has been blacktopped and 36 bridges completed. Fiscal progress stands at 70%. The corridor, costing Rs 20 billion, aims to boost trade and connect remote communities.


Free OPD Service in Katari

Katari, Koshi Province – Katari Hospital begins free OPD services, reimbursed by the municipality. About 35,000 patients visit annually, with only 20% insured. The hospital had previously charged Rs 20 per patient. Free services now extend to patients from surrounding districts, including Sindhuli and Okhaldhunga.


Nepalis Go Abroad for Work

Dodhara Chandani, Kanchanpur – Many are leaving for India on the eve of Dashain in search of work. Poverty drives families from Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces to Himachal Pradesh and Shimla. Some plan to return for Tihar after earning money. Border crossings show higher outbound than inbound movement this year.


Ganeshman Singh Memorial Day

Afghanistan Suspends Fiber Internet

Afghanistan – Fiber optic services suspended in multiple provinces citing “immorality concerns.” Provinces affected include Balkh, Kunduz, Baghlan, Takhar, and Badakhshan. The suspension follows a decree from the supreme leader. Afghan Telecom, providing over 60% of fiber services, is directly impacted.
