Fertilizer to Be Available in Next Ten Days: Agriculture Minister

Krishnanagar (Kapilvastu), Aug 31: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari assured farmers that urea fertilizer imported from India will be available within seven to ten days. Speaking at an event in Chandrauta, the Minister emphasized that distribution should prioritize genuine farmers based on arable land and district production. Local leaders stressed the need to streamline fertilizer and seed distribution ahead of the next rainy season.


NRNs’ Citizenship Based on Descent Should Continue: RPP Chair

Jhapa, Aug 31: Rajendra Lingden, Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has called for the continuation of citizenship based on descent for non-resident Nepalis (NRNs). At a press conference in Birtamod, Lingden highlighted the importance of connecting Nepalis abroad to the country’s development and economy. He criticized the post-2006 amendment to the Citizenship Act for limiting dual citizenship and impacting NRNs seeking employment and education abroad.


Gold Price Hits Record High at Rs 203,600 per Tola

Kathmandu, Aug 31: The price of gold in Nepal reached an all-time high of Rs 203,600 per tola (11.66 grams) today, up Rs 3,000 compared to Friday, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association. Silver is being traded at Rs 2,425 per tola. Analysts attribute the rise to increased global demand and currency fluctuations.


Prime Minister Oli Visits Agricultural Site and Zhou Enlai Memorial in Tianjin

Tianjin (China), Aug 31: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, visited Huiguan Village to observe the Rice Core Planting Area, where pilot projects integrate agriculture, tourism, and education. Later, he visited the Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao Memorial Museum in Nankai District, honoring China’s revolutionary history. The delegation included senior Nepali leaders, diplomats, and ministers. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and explore economic cooperation with China.


NEPSE Index Falls by 31 Points

Kathmandu, 15 Bhadra: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 31.17 points to 2,749.83 today. A total of 14.85 million shares from 321 companies changed hands, totaling Rs 6.6 billion in transactions. All sub-indices declined, with Global IME Samunnat Yojana-2 entering a negative circuit and Unnati Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited seeing the largest fall of 6.77%.


Indrajatra Lingo Enters Kathmandu

Kathmandu, 15 Bhadra: The Lingo of Indrajatra was officially entered into the city at 9:52 am today. The ritual involved dragging the Lingo from Bhotebahal to the Kalbhairav statue in Basantapur Durbar area. The Manandhar community, responsible for the tradition, performed the ceremony. The Lingo will be raised on Bhadra Shukla Dwadashi (Bhadra 19), culminating in the grand Ananta Chaturdashi procession with Kumari, Ganesh, and Bhairav, attended by President Ram Chandra Poudel.

Tokyo, Aug 31: Nepali kickboxer Abiral Ghimire (Himalayan Cheetah) will face a French opponent in the first round of the K-1 World Max 2025 Tournament on September 7 at Yoyogi 2nd Gymnasium, Japan. Competing against international boxers from over a dozen countries, Ghimire aims to become the world number one in kickboxing. The Nepali Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi, wished him success in the prestigious competition.
