The ATR 72-seater aircraft of Buddha Air has initiated flights to and from Tumlingtar Airport in Sankhuwasabha district following the upgradation of the airport’s runway.

The Office of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) in Tumlingtar informed that the Buddha Air’s TR 72-seater inaugurated Kathmandu-Tumlingtar-Kathmandu flight from May 16, Tuesday. Tumlingtar Airport, which was constructed 52 years ago, received 72-seater for the first time on Tuesday.

Local denizens expressed their happiness following the initiation of flights by the Buddha Airport.

Buddha Air Manager for Tumlingtar Airport Ram Luintel said that the company’s 72-seater kicked off flight after the increased number of passengers.

Prior to this, the passengers had limited access to plane tickets due to higher number of travelers going to Mt Makalu.

The Arun III Hydropower Project and arrival of tourists contributed to higher demand for ticket.
