Kathmandu, June 25, 2024 — The first episode of the new season of ‘It’s My Show,’ now hosted by Oshin Sitaula, has ignited a wave of controversy in the Nepali film industry. This season opener, featuring popular actors Swastima Khadka and Samragyee RL Shah, took an unexpected turn when the guests delved into juicy gossip, including personal remarks about fellow actress Jassita Gurung.

Swastima and Samragyee’s comments particularly focused on Jassita Gurung, who recently starred in the film “Farki Farki” alongside megastar Anmol KC. During the episode, the two actors mentioned that Jassita had dated several prominent figures in the Nepali film industry, a revelation that was both unexpected and controversial.

The fallout was swift. Jassita Gurung took to social media to express her dismay, writing a heartfelt post that questioned the ethics of discussing someone’s personal life on national television. She stated, “I never understand why people have to talk about someone’s personal life on national television when they don’t even know them well personally. I am deeply saddened by these people after watching this interview. Are we truly against women bringing another woman down?” Jassita also emphasized the potential impact on her family and criticized the example set for the community.

Her post garnered significant support from the industry, with actors like Anmol KC, Kabila Nepali, and Trishala Gurung expressing solidarity in the comments. Many fans also voiced their disappointment with Samragyee RL Shah, stating they had not expected such behavior from her. Additionally, Oshin Sitaula faced criticism for allegedly attempting to emulate the controversial style of ‘Koffee with Karan,’ known for its gossip-laden content.

In response, Samragyee RL Shah commented on Jassita’s post, offering an apology: “@jassitaaa I am never about putting anyone down let alone a woman… We were put in a spot in this rapid round question and we didn’t think of the consequences but by no means we were trying to bully you and I would like to apologize for hurting your feelings 🙏.”

Swastima Khadka has also commented on Jassita’s post with an apology.

However, host Oshin Sitaula have remained silent on the matter, with no public apologies or statements issued as of yet.

The incident has sparked a broader discussion about the responsibility of public figures in the media and the impact of their words on personal lives. As the controversy continues to unfold, many are calling for more thoughtful and respectful discourse within the industry.
