Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) security personnel seized 1.3 kilos of illegal gold from a Sri Lankan citizen, Kanthimathi Kavaskar, 54.

The arrest took place at 1:00 am today when Kavaskar arrived on the Fly Dubai flight FZ 573.

TIA security chief Deputy Inspector General of Police, Arjun Chand, confirmed the arrest and the confiscation of the contraband.

The illegal gold, cleverly concealed within Kavaskar’s inner garments, was discovered during routine security checks at the airport. Authorities are currently conducting further investigations into the case to determine the source and intended destination of the smuggled gold.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to curb illegal activities and maintain the security of international airports.

The arrest of Kavaskar underscores the vigilance of TIA security personnel in identifying and apprehending individuals involved in smuggling valuable goods.

More details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
