Miss Tamang is still one of the most sought after and popular communal beauty contests in Nepal. The beauty pageant competition has been taking place since 2006 when it introduced the first Miss Tamang to the community, Jenisha Moktan, who is also the former Miss Nepal. She has been inspiring the Nepalese mass along with others abroad with her social persona.
Continuing the legacy, this year’s Miss Tamang was chosen at a highly enthusiastic event held by MD Group at Hotel Radisson on the eve of March 12, Friday. Safalta Theeng Tamang emerged to be the winner of the contest, with Pema Pakhrin and Soniya Waiba as runners up among the the total of 23 contestants. The winner has been entitled to cash prize of Rs 100,000 with gift hampers whereas 1st runner and 2nd runner up received Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively. Along with the main title, Safalta also managed to win 5 other subtitles including Miss Intellectual, Miss Multimedia, Miss Popular among others. Safalta is originally from Bhugdeu, Bethanchok Rural Municipality-06, Kavre.
The judges panel included senior musician Pradeep Bomjan, Dr Tsering Yonjan, Chairman of Association of Tamang Educational Consultants of Nepal-ATEC NEPAL K.D. Moktan, Former Miss Nepal runner up Barsha Lekhi and Model Nawang Moktan among others. The guest list included Tamang actress Rajani Ghising, Man Hunt International Nepal 2019 Bibesh Shrestha among others.
