Report on Nepal-India digital transaction submitted to Governor

The Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Maha Prasad Adhikari, has been given a report on digital transactions between Nepal and India.

After spending two weeks studying in different towns in India, including the country’s capital, New Delhi, a team from the Economic Media Operators Association of Nepal (EMAN) put together the report.

EMAN President Royal Acharya said that the Association gave the report to the Governor on Sunday during an event at NRB.

When Governor Adhikari got the report, he thanked the EMAN for doing the study on digital transactions between countries, which he thought would make it easier for Indian tourists to visit Nepal.

“There is a problem with how Indian guests who visit Nepal pay. Also, Nepalese people who went to India to learn or go on pilgrimages used to have trouble,” Governor Adhikari said, adding that the cross-country digital transaction would make it easier to pay.

He promised to do more research to make this happen and said that the NRB could use the report that EMAN had made.
Also today, EMAN gave the report to Sunil KC, who is the President of the Nepal Bankers Association.

Nepal and India recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cross-border digital payments, which should make it easier for people in both countries to do digital transfers.
