A meeting was held between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar this evening.
During the meeting, contemporary political issues including the upcoming election for the new President and Vice-president were discussed, according to the Secretariat of the Prime Minister.
It may be noted election for the post of the President and the Vice-President is taking place on coming March 9 and March 17 respectively.
As the date of the election is approaching, the top leaders of the political parties have intensified their meetings to choose the candidates based on a political consensus.
Before meeting Prime Minister Dahal, the NC President met with leaders including CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal at his own residence.
The CPN (Maoist Center) which holds the decisive number of votes to elect the next President and Vice-President is seeking a national consensus on the candidates while other parties have claimed the posts for their respective party candidates.
Also on Wednesday, a meeting was held between Prime Minister Dahal and Chairperson of CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli. Likewise, Congress president Deuba met with the leaders of Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, Janta Samajbadi Party and CPN (US) Party today.
