Kathmandu, Nov 27: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the Sixth Asian Population Conference, emphasizing the need to address population issues through economic, social, and political strategies. Speaking virtually, he highlighted the importance of equality, sustainable development, and global partnerships to tackle challenges like climate change, ageing populations, and migration.
PM Oli called for inclusive policies to reduce inequality and uplift marginalized communities, linking population dynamics to development goals. He noted Nepal’s demographic challenges, including skewed gender ratios and uneven population distribution, urging equitable solutions.
The conference coincides with the 30th anniversary of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), reaffirming its principles of human rights, gender equality, and reproductive health access. Delegates from across Asia will discuss strategies to address demographic transitions and their societal impact.
