The Transport Management Office of Bhaktapur has authorized the private sector to administer written driver’s license examinations without informing the concerned ministry of Bagmati Province.
The Office authorized Budhathoki Trades and Training School Pvt. Ltd., Madhyapurthimi, to administer the written driving license examination beginning Monday.
According to the Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Transport of Bagmati Province, the Office Chief granted permission to the private sector in violation of the regulations.
Asman Tamang, secretary at the Ministry, stated that they have no information regarding the permission granted to the private sector to administer the driving license written exam.
Tamang stated, “It was improper if the private sector was permitted to administer the written driver’s license exam. It was inappropriate to enable the private sector to administer exams despite its own exam center.”
He added that no procedure for granting the private sector permission to administer the exam has been established.
However, according to Office Chief Shiva Kumar Niraula, permission was granted to the private sector per standard operating procedure.
