Nepal has finally decided to resume providing on-arrival visa to international tourists coming to Nepal from 122 countries across the globe. Howbeit, people coming to Nepal from conflict-torn countries will not be granted such visas. The Department of Immigration will dispense on-arrival visas at the Tribhuvan International AirportTIA, however, people from conflict-ridden countries must obtain visas from the diplomatic missions. The countries from where the people should get visas from diplomatic missions include Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameron, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and Syria among others.
All tourists from countries that can get on-arrival visas should have taken COVID-19 vaccine and also submit a negative PCR test result acquired within the 72 hours of check in at the airport. The Department said same rule will be applied for those coming to Nepal via road. For the mountaineers/ trekkers, they must have a copy of permit for mountaineering or trekking and should have document supporting their booking at hotels here. This provision has come into effect as per the decision of Council of Ministers taken on September 21. Children below 5 may not require vaccination card and COVID-19 test report, the Department informed.
