The Netherlands defeated Nepal by seven wickets in a match that was part of the ongoing ICC One Day World Cup Qualifier at the Takashinga Sports Club in Harare, Zimbabwe, putting an end to Nepal’s bid for the Super Six.
Nepal was eliminated from the group stage as a result of this loss, whereas the Netherlands advanced to the Super Six. Three of the five teams competing in the match from Group ‘A’—Netherlands, Zimbabwe, and West Indies—have already secured spots in the Super Six. The USA has also lost to another team.
Max O’Dowd led the Netherlands in scoring with 90 runs off 75 balls, including eight fours and six sixes. Similar contributions came from Bas de Leede (41) and Vikramjit Singh (30). Sandeep Lamichhane of Nepal and Gulsan Jha of India both bowled well, taking two wickets each.
Nepal scored 167 runs in 44.3 overs at the cost of all wickets after being given the opportunity to bat first but losing the toss.
Rohit Paudel, the captain of the losing team, scored 33 runs off 55 balls, including three boundaries and one six.
Sandeep Lamichhane struck 27 and Kushal Bhurtel hit 27 off 42 balls, respectively. Jha made 15 off 56, Dipendra Singh Airee made 14, and Kushal Malla made 12 off 56 for Bhim Sarki.
Bas de Leede and Vikramjit Singh each claimed two wickets, while Logan van Beek claimed four for the Netherlands. Aryan Dutt and Clayton Floyd each scored one.
Nepal defeated the USA by six wickets in their second match after losing to the hosts Zimbabwe by eight wickets in the first one. They lost against West Indies by 101 runs in their third game.
Similar to how they lost to Zimbabwe by six wickets, the Netherlands defeated the US by five wickets. On Monday, the Netherlands will play the West Indies.
