Nepali Congress deciding on prez candidate

Nepali Congress is holding its Central Working Committee meeting this morning to decide on the party’s candidate for the presidential Post.

The meeting is to start at 8:30 a.m. at the party’s central office, Sanepa, informed Congress Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel. 

The party is to decide on the selection of the presidential candidate and also filing of nomination paper for the by-election to be held in Chitwan, constituency 2. 

A joint meeting of Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), Janata Samajwadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, Janamat Party, Rastriya Janamorcha and Nagarik Unmukti Party on Friday forged a consensus to support the Congress’ candidate in the poll for the new Head of State. 

Nomination for the candidates for the presidential post are being registered today from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. 

The voting for the poll will be held on March 9.
