In a groundbreaking development, the Government of Nepal and the United Kingdom have signed an agreement enabling the deployment of highly skilled Nepalese nurses to the UK. This significant accord, signed by Kewal Prasad Bhandari, Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, and Heidi Tavakoli, the UK representative, marks a major milestone in bilateral relations.

The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has confirmed that today’s agreement solidifies the implementation of the previously established Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) from August 2022. This progressive framework sets the stage for eligible Nepali nurses to pursue employment opportunities in esteemed UK hospitals.

Under the terms of the agreement, the ministry will establish an efficient application process, subject to approval. Once the streamlined procedure receives the green light, Nepali nurses can conveniently apply online. It is important to note that applicants must be registered with the Nepal Nursing Council and achieve a minimum score of 7 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), as outlined by Kaviraj Upreti, Co-spokesperson of the ministry.

This historic agreement introduces a new era, as it marks the first time nurses from Nepal will be sent to the UK through the Government-to-Government (G2G) model. Initially, around 100 talented nurses will be selected to contribute their expertise to UK hospitals, according to the ministry’s statement.

The signing of this remarkable agreement not only creates unprecedented opportunities for Nepalese healthcare professionals but also strengthens the bonds between Nepal and the UK. It addresses the growing demand for skilled nurses in the UK and offers an exceptional chance for Nepali nurses to gain valuable international exposure while advancing their careers.

As the finalized framework and procedures take shape, aspiring Nepalese nurses can eagerly anticipate the chance to make a meaningful impact within the UK healthcare system. This agreement sets an optimistic precedent for future collaboration in healthcare, emphasizing the joint commitment of both nations.

With this transformative agreement, the stage is set for Nepalese nurses to embark on an exciting journey of professional growth while meeting the pressing healthcare needs in the United Kingdom.
