Nepal welcomes over 79,000 foreign tourists in January 2024

Nepal experienced a substantial boost in tourism as 79,100 foreign tourists arrived in the country during the first month of 2024, marking a significant increase of 24,026 compared to January 2023.

In the corresponding period last year, 55,074 foreign tourists visited Nepal.

The data, released by the Nepal Tourism Board, indicates that a total of 81,897 individuals departed from the country in January. Indian tourists topped the list with 24,139 arrivals, a notable surge from 16,436 in January 2023. Additionally, 7,267 tourists from China, 7,047 from America, 4,619 from Thailand, 3,812 from South Korea, 3,629 from Bangladesh, and 3,421 from Australia explored Nepal during the month.

Other notable visitors included 3,276 from the UK, 2,229 from Bhutan, and 1,568 from Japan, contributing to the diverse and thriving tourism landscape in Nepal. The robust increase in tourist arrivals signifies the allure of Nepal as a preferred destination, with the country actively promoting its unique cultural and natural treasures to the global audience.
