Nepal, renowned for its delectable cuisine, has clinched a coveted spot in the Guinness Book of World Records with ‘The Largest Momo Party,’ an event that epitomized the country’s rich culinary heritage and vibrant community spirit.

On March 15, 2024, history was made as Coca-Cola, in collaboration with organizers, orchestrated ‘The Largest Momo Party’ as part of the second edition of the event held in Kathmandu at the Hyatt Regency Ground in Bouddha. The grand affair attracted over 500 enthusiastic participants, uniting people in a celebration of gastronomic delight, culture, and camaraderie.

Each participant was treated to a tantalizing array of two momos paired with a refreshing 250 ml Coke, ensuring an unforgettable culinary experience. To uphold the highest standards of food safety and hygiene, a dedicated Food Hygiene Inspector and two witnesses oversaw the proceedings throughout the event.

The humble momo, believed to have originated in Tibet in the 14th century, has evolved into a culinary phenomenon in Nepal over the past five decades. Transitioning from street-side stalls to esteemed five-star hotels, momo has entrenched itself as an indispensable component of Nepal’s culinary landscape and cultural identity.

The record-setting ‘Largest Momo Party’ not only signifies Nepal’s culinary prowess but also underscores the country’s ability to unite people from diverse backgrounds through a shared love for food and festivity. As momo continues to captivate taste buds around the globe, Nepal’s culinary legacy shines brighter than ever, earning it a well-deserved place in the annals of culinary history.
