In a thrilling showdown at the Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series in Hong Kong, Nepal emerged victorious, claiming the third position after a convincing 45-run triumph over Japan in the playoff match held today.

Opting to bat first, Nepal set a formidable target of 115 runs for Japan, with Pooja Mahato leading the charge with an impressive 43 runs, supported by Roma Thapa (22 runs) and Rubina Chhetri (21 runs).

Japan, however, struggled to keep pace and managed to score only 70 runs, losing 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

The Nepalese bowlers, including Sangita Rai, Indu Burma, Sita Rana Magar, Khushi Dangol, and Soni Pakhrin, displayed remarkable prowess, each claiming a wicket.

This victory follows Nepal’s earlier dominance over Japan with a 67-run win in the group stage match on Saturday.

The four-nation series, featuring teams from Nepal, Tanzania, Japan, and Hong Kong, is set to witness a title clash between Tanzania and Hong Kong later in the day, as they secured the top two positions in the group stage.

Captain Indu Burma led the Nepali team, which includes vice-captain Bindu Rawal, Rubina Chhetri, Sita Ranamgar, Asmina Karmacharya, Kajol Shrestha, Kanchan Shrestha, Khushi Dangol, Sangeeta Rai, Soni Pakhrin, Somu Bista, Pooja Mahato, Roma Thapa, and Samjhana Khadka.
