A mother and her daughter have been found dead at Pataura of Maulapur Rural Municipality-4 in Rautahat district today.

According to the District Police Office, Rautahat, Kabita Devi, 24, was found dead outside beneath some stairs, and her 2-year-old deceased daughter Aruhi was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan.

The father-in-law and spouse of the deceased Kabita, Dhirendra Shah, and Uma Shankar Prasad Yadav, the DSP and spokesperson at the DPO in Rautahat, were reported missing after the tragedy.

The mother-in-law and sister-in-law of Kabita have been placed under police custody for additional investigation.

Kabita’s birth family has accused them of killing her under the guise of a dowry.

The birthplace of the late Kabita is located in the village of Mithuawa in Madhav Narayan Rural Municipality-5. As soon as he learned of the death, the deceased’s father, Bijay Shankar Shah, hurried to his daughter’s house.

He bemoaned the fact that, following a protracted event, he was finally permitted to view the lifeless bodies of his daughter and granddaughter.

He claimed that his daughter and son-in-law frequently quarreled over dowry.

He revealed, “Kabita used to share that her husband Dhirendra used to demand bed, gold ring, cash, and gold chain as a dowry on a regular basis.”

While no complaint has yet been made from the deceased Kabita’s birth family, authorities are still keeping a record of the incident with witness accounts.
