Loan sharking victims have again hit the streets in demand of endorsement of the act against usury.
They are mounting the pressure at a time when the government is preparing to endorse the law ensuring the victims’ rights.
Following the void of the ordinance brought by the government for the solution of loan shark victims, the agitated victim’s side has again entered Kathmandu.
They have come to the capital in large number from Madhes without caring about the scorching heat and rain.
They have asserted they will not go home unless the law is endorsed.
According to the constitution, the replacement bill of Ordinance 2080 to amend some Nepalese laws related to the civil code brought by the government on May 3 to solve the problems of usury victims had to be passed by the parliament within 60 days.
The Ordinance Replacement Bill was to be passed by the National Assembly on June 30 and sent to the House of Representatives.
The House of Representatives should have passed it by last Wednesday and sent it to the National Assembly and the National Assembly should have verified it and sent it to the President.
However, after the main opposition party CPN-UML, Rashtriya Swatanta Party and Rashtriya Prajatantra Party RPP obstructed the parliament, the ordinance to be passed by the House within 60 days have been deferred. On the first day of the protest, they demonstrated today from Maitighar Mandala to New Baneshwar demanding justice by passing the ordinance.
