The Koshi Province Assembly has achieved a significant milestone by unanimously passing the ‘Bill Designed to Implement the Proposal Related to the Finance of Koshi Province Government, 2080,’ thereby replacing the existing ‘Koshi Province Finance Ordinance, 2080.’

Chief Minister Kedar Karki presented the proposal to the Assembly, seeking its approval, and the unanimous endorsement signals a collective commitment towards advancing the economic landscape of the province.

Prior to the formal approval, various Assembly members, including Gombu Sherpa, Sapana Darji, Kishor Chandra Dulal, Bidur Kumar Linthep, Rajan Kirati, Binod Rai, Dolma Tamang, Chhabilal Chudal, and Ram Prasad Mahato, engaged in in-depth discussions on various facets of the bill.

Their deliberations emphasized the need for the provincial government to take a serious approach to implementing the bill, highlighting its role in shaping the province’s path toward prosperity.

Responding to queries raised during the deliberations, Chief Minister Karki clarified that the proposed bill maintains the existing tax rate and scope, consistent with the earlier ordinance.

He underscored the importance of organizing the transport sector, citing it as a significant revenue source for the province.

Chief Minister Karki also clarified that the provincial government would exclusively handle taxes on sand, pebble, and stones, while expressing the government’s commitment to offering concessions in the registration of cottage and small industries.

The Assembly session, chaired by Speaker Haji Israeel Mansuri, concluded with a commitment to reconvene at 11 am tomorrow.

The unanimous passage of the finance bill marks a crucial step forward for the Koshi Province, setting the stage for sustained economic development and prosperity.
