Kasthamandap reconstruction to complete before Dashain

The historic Kasthamandap is expected to be reconstructed completely prior to this festive season. So far, 96 percent of the work has come to completion. Kasthamandap Reconstruction Committee Chair Rajesh Shakyasaid the work will be completed before the Dashain festival given there are no obstacles. 

The Kasthamandap was entirely disfigured at the time of the 2015 earthquake. For the reconstruction of this 7th-century heritage, Kathmandu Metropolitan City has so far, provided financial assistance of Rs 115 million. The original Gajur has been installed in historical heritage, in the reconstruction phase whereas 17,058 cu ft of timber is required for the heritage reconstruction. “Albeit some of the used wood was utilized, Timber Corporation of Nepal provided the timber”, Shakya informed.
