Kaligandaki Rural Municipality in Syangja district has achieved a remarkable feat by exporting flowers worth Rs 2 million during this festive season.
The locally cultivated blossoms have found their way to the cities of Pokhara, Butwal, and Kathmandu.
Anup Paudel, the Chief of the Agriculture Section in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality, revealed that flowers valued at Rs 2 million, originating from 16 farmers and groups across seven wards, have already been successfully exported.
In a supportive initiative, the rural municipality granted a 50% subsidy to the flower producers in Kaligandaki.
Paudel further disclosed that the total export value is anticipated to reach Rs 2.5 million by the conclusion of the Tihar festival.
To encourage flower production, the rural municipality provided a grant of Rs 9,000 per ropani, accompanied by complimentary consultations and technical assistance for the dedicated farmers.
The flourishing flower trade not only underscores the agricultural prosperity of Kaligandaki but also highlights the potential for rural economies to thrive through strategic support and community collaboration.
