Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police Club showcased strong performances on the first day of the Jay Trophy Men’s Elite Cup, which began on Wednesday. After the opening matches, Tribhuvan Army led Bagmati Province by 152 runs, while Nepal Police gained a 45-run lead against Madhesh Province.

In the third match of the ongoing tournament, Madhesh Province batted first and scored 129 runs in 42.4 overs, losing all their wickets. Mayan Yadav was the top scorer with 59 runs, followed by Abhishek Tiwari with 17 runs, while other batters failed to reach double digits.

For Police, Gulshan Jha was the standout bowler, taking five wickets, while Kushal Bhurtel claimed two wickets. Sharwan Yadav and Lalit Rajbanshi contributed with a wicket each.

In response, Nepal Police scored 174 runs for the loss of three wickets in 40 overs by the end of Day 1. Openers Kushal Bhurtel and Dilip Nath scored 63 and 40 runs, respectively. Gulshan Jha added 20 runs, while Amit Shrestha remained unbeaten on 34 runs. For Madhesh, Harishankar Sah claimed two wickets, and Abhishek Tiwari took one. Police will continue their innings today.

In the fourth match, Tribhuvan Army Club batted the entire 60 overs, as per tournament rules, and posted a formidable total of 276 runs for the loss of five wickets. Imran Sheikh and Basir Ahmed led the charge with half-centuries, scoring 72 and 53 runs, respectively. Tritraj Das added 44 runs, Bhim Sarki contributed 32 runs, and Kushal Malla made 35 runs.

For Bagmati Province, Bipin Acharya took three wickets, while Sandeep Lamichhane picked up two wickets.

In reply, Bagmati Province scored 124 runs for the loss of five wickets in 22 overs by the end of Day 1. They trail by 152 runs. Subha Kansakar scored 34 runs, Uttam Magar contributed 28 runs, and Rit Gautam added 21 runs.

Both matches will continue today.
