The Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) has urged Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale to help hotels run smoothly in the face of obstacles caused by the ongoing global COVID-19.
HAN’s desire comes after the government revoked Hotel Yak and Yeti’s license to operate a casino after it failed to pay Rs 420 million in royalties.
According to a statement issued by the HAN, a team led by HAN President Shreejana Rana recently met with Minister Ale and discussed current difficulties confronting the tourist sector. President Rana informed the minister of HAN’s role in the growth, promotion, and protection of the country’s tourist sector during the meeting.
She stated that no individual or entity should escape its legal obligation to pay revenues, taxes, and fees to the state and that the HAN has backed the state in this subject.
She drew the HAN’s attention to the termination of the five-star Yak and Yeti’s license, ‘which has contributed enormously to the promotion of the country’s tourism,’ and stated that as a result, workers, staff, associated persons, and salary payment have been impacted.
The HAN always supports the state in enforcing the law’s laws and regulations, but she believes that the hotel industry’s enormous contributions to the country’s economy should be recognized.
