Government to obtain loan of Rs. 17 billion from World Bank

The Government of Nepal has decided to form a team to negotiate with the World Bank to obtain a concessional loan of $150 million (approximately Rs. 17 billion) for ‘Finance for Growth Development’. Speaking a press conference held today to make public the main decisions of the cabinet meeting of the government, spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki revealed the decision. The cabinet meeting has also decided to exempt the members of Himal Arohan Dal (Nepal Army) from the salute fee and bail amount, to give Approve in-Principal AIP to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to start the process for setting up a teachers’ hospital, Minister Karki informed. Similarly, the meeting of the Council of Ministers has also appointed former president of Nepal Press Union- Sameer Jung Sah as chairman of Nepal Television for a maximum of four years, appointed Prof. Dr. Shilu Manandhar as vice-chancellor of Nepal Open University, promoted joint secretary Rameshwar Dangal to the post of secretary to the government. It has been decided to fix the minimum price of raw milk at Rs 56.04 per liter. The meeting also determined the scope of work for various Land Revenue and Survey Offices.
