Kathmandu, June 29, 2079 – The achievements of the incumbent government’s 6-month tenure have been announced, highlighting the prioritization of development, good governance, social justice, and prosperity. Led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, the government unveiled a comprehensive 77-point report detailing the progress made from December 26 to June 25.
The report emphasizes the establishment of the National Coordinating Council, aimed at strengthening cooperation between provinces and local levels for enhanced implementation. The government has also focused on improving public service delivery, streamlining the passport service, and establishing a citizen-friendly administration. Corruption control and good governance have been key priorities across all levels of the state.
Significant initiatives have been taken for economic reform and rehabilitation, leading to a dynamic economy with controlled revenue leakage and increased revenue collection. Furthermore, public institutions such as the Nepal Airlines Corporation have undergone significant improvements, while institutions like Nepal Electricity Authority and Nepal Oil Corporation have become profitable.
Financial integration and investment promotion have been achieved through the signing of approximately 35 billion in foreign aid. The government successfully reduced the import price of agricultural and livestock products by 30% by setting minimum prices for sugarcane, milk, and wheat. Additionally, 30 billion rupees have been allocated for the upcoming fiscal year to ensure the supply of 78,500 metric tons of chemical fertilizers.
Other noteworthy accomplishments include the renewal of the Nepal-India Transit Agreement, the implementation of the start-up enterprise loan fund, and the regulation of Melamchi water. The operationalization of Pokhara and Gautam Buddha International Airports, along with the development of road infrastructure and major construction projects, has accelerated the country’s overall development.
The government has also made significant strides in governance, public service delivery, complaint management, corruption control, and the promotion of ethical values. The resolution of issues related to fake Bhutanese refugees and meter interest victims has garnered appreciation from the public.
In a separate announcement, the government released a list of 8,471 individuals who have been declared martyrs, with their names yet to be published in the gazette. The government expressed its commitment to bringing the peace process to a logical conclusion. Furthermore, it highlighted the strengthening of international relations, with 181 countries now having established diplomatic ties with Nepal. During the Prime Minister’s visit to India, seven agreements were signed to further enhance cooperation.
It is believed that the new budget presented in parliament will contribute to a dynamic economy and achieve sustainable economic growth, development, social security, and justice. The Prime Minister’s Office, along with the Council of Ministers, emphasized that job opportunities have been created domestically, and the foundation for high economic and social development has been laid, complementing the efforts to strengthen federalism and good governance.
