Renowned diplomat and former US Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, has passed away at the age of 100 in his Connecticut residence.

The news was confirmed by Kissinger Associates, a firm founded by the late statesman.

The statement released did not disclose the cause of his death.

Henry Kissinger played a pivotal role in shaping American foreign policy during the Nixon and Ford administrations, serving as both the top diplomat and national security adviser.

One of his notable achievements was the energetic pursuit of détente, a policy that significantly improved relations with the Soviet Union and China during a critical period of the Cold War.

However, Kissinger’s legacy is not without controversy.

He faced accusations, at the very least, of tacit support for a controversial coup in Chile that led to the overthrow of a leftist government, resulting in widespread criticism.

Despite the controversies surrounding his career, Kissinger was a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, an acknowledgment of his efforts in fostering international cooperation.

However, his legacy remains a subject of debate, with some critics condemning him as a war criminal.

The passing of Henry Kissinger marks the end of an era, and his contributions to US foreign policy will be remembered and analyzed for years to come.
