Madhes Province’s first-ever waste processing center has started operations in Bardibas Municipality-8, Mahottari. The center, built at an initial cost of NPR 12 million, is a collaborative effort between Bardibas Municipality and HITTA Heavy Machinery and Recycling Center, Kathmandu.

Key Highlights:

✅ The center will operate under a 20-year agreement between Bardibas Municipality and HITTA Recycling Center, with the municipality receiving 12% of the revenue generated from waste management and processing.

✅ Currently, an incinerator machine with a capacity to process 6 tons of waste daily has been installed, while additional machines for producing organic fertilizer will be operational within six months.

✅ The center processes around 4 tons of waste daily collected from households and markets in Bardibas, turning it into ash and preparing for compost production.

Municipality’s Support and Revenue:

The municipality has allocated 3 bighas of land for the center. The income is generated from selling compost, household waste management fees, and other sources. Presently, the center earns NPR 300,000 monthly from waste collection in three wards and plans to expand to all 14 wards soon.

A Sustainable Solution:

Bardibas Mayor Prahlad Kumar Kshetri expressed confidence that the center will eliminate concerns about waste disposal and create economic opportunities. The project also sets a benchmark for other municipalities in Madhes Province to replicate sustainable waste management practices.

🎉 Public Response:

Locals have shown immense interest in witnessing the processing activities at the center. Intellectuals and community leaders believe this initiative marks a major breakthrough in addressing waste management challenges in the region.

Let’s turn waste into wealth and pave the way for a cleaner, greener Madhes! 🌍💚
