Director Dipendra Lama has announced the creation of a new film titled Dukhi Aatma (Sad Soul), focusing on the topic of sexual health. The film is scheduled for public release on February 14.

During the promotional campaign, Director Lama explained that the film was made to address the need for sexual health themes in Nepali cinema. “I often highlight social issues through my films,” Lama said. “Although many films on sexual health exist internationally, there hasn’t been one in Nepal. This inspired me to create this movie.”

Lama emphasized that while the subject may seem serious, the presentation is designed to be entertaining. The teaser and the poetic piece Breakup Kavita (Breakup Poem) from the film have already gained attention. The film’s promotional approach is notably distinct, featuring a literary touch to reflect the protagonist, a poet.

“The story revolves around the psychology of a poet who has crossed the typical marriageable age but remains unmarried. It portrays the risks and social fears associated with unexpressed emotions,” Lama explained. “While the movie offers entertainment, it also provides lessons that audiences will take home.”

Billed as an “adult drama,” the film stars an ensemble cast including Dayahang Rai, Aanchal Sharma, Anup Bikram Shahi, Buddhi Tamang, Rear Rai, Pushkar Gurung, Kavita Ale, Lokendra Lekhak, Aarti Acharya, Ashant Sharma, Diya Maskey, Luniva Tuladhar, and Shishir Wangdel.

Produced by Himal Kadaria, the film features cinematography by Alok Shukla and editing by Nimesh Shrestha.
