This coming Friday will see the national release of ‘Tulki’, a Nepali feature film on polygamy.
The information was released during a press conference that the movie producer “The Palm Group Pvt Ltd” held here on Wednesday.
Polygamy was depicted in the movie, according to film producer Shekhar Lama, and is still practiced in some parts of Nepal’s mountainous region.
The practice of many marriages is common in the hilly districts of Dolpa, Humla, and Mugu, according to the movie, Lama said.
Producer Lama noted that the film was filmed in the remote human villages of Se-Phoksundo, Tripurkot, Ralli, and Karelikanda.
According to the film’s director, Devjung Thapa, the issue of a girl’s sorrows in upper Dolpa on the verge of deeply ingrained customs was examined.
The girl in the tale was raised in a different lower Dolpa hamlet and eventually moved to the higher region after getting married to a boy from the upper.
Samir Balami, the chair of the Film Journalists Association, senior artist Krishna Malla, and journalist Ramjee Bagal were among those who sent their best wishes for the film’s success on the occasion.
The film, which stars Shishir Bangdel, Swastima Karki, Sophiya Limbu, Narendra Tamang, Som Lama, Shekhar Lama, Saujan Subba, Bhakta Singh Kathayat, and Ranjan Prasad Neupane, has a story written by Laxman Sunar.
