In the early hours of the morning, an aftershock rattled the Kathmandu Valley, with the epicenter identified at Chitlang, Makawanpur.
The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre reported that the aftershock, measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale, struck at 1:19 am today.
Senior seismologist Dr. Lokbijay Adhikari from the center provided details, stating that the tremor originated in Chitlang, situated on the border of Kathmandu, Makawanpur, and Dhading districts.
The seismic activity sent a significant jolt through the area surrounding Kathmandu, impacting neighboring districts.
This recent aftershock follows a similar event on November 20, when a 4.5-magnitude aftershock occurred with its epicenter at Dhamena in Bajhang.
The frequency of seismic activity in the region has heightened concerns among residents and officials, prompting a renewed focus on earthquake preparedness and safety measures. Authorities are advising residents to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions in the aftermath of these tremors.
The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre continues to closely monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
