DPM Shrestha Embarks on Official Visit to China

Beijing, March 25: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has commenced an official visit to the People’s Republic of China, reinforcing diplomatic ties between Nepal and its northern neighbor.

Upon his arrival at Beijing’s Daxing International Airport on Monday, DPM Shrestha was warmly received by Chang Maoming, the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, as well as Nepali Ambassador to China Bishnu Pukar Shrestha. 

Senior officials from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present to extend their greetings.

During his visit, DPM Shrestha is slated to engage in high-level discussions with his Chinese counterpart and dignitaries from various provinces of China, underscoring the commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation and foster mutual understanding.

One of the key highlights of Shrestha’s itinerary includes a meeting with Wang Hunin, the Central Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), aimed at enhancing dialogue and collaboration between the two nations.

Furthermore, the Foreign Minister is scheduled to hold discussions with Sun Haiyan, the Deputy Minister of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party, to explore avenues for strengthened cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Shrestha’s visit to China underscores Nepal’s steadfast commitment to bolstering diplomatic relations and fostering fruitful partnerships with its neighbors. 

As both countries strive to navigate global challenges and pursue shared objectives, such engagements serve as crucial platforms for promoting regional stability and prosperity.

As the discussions unfold, expectations are high for substantive outcomes that will further consolidate the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Nepal and China.
