Parsa’s District Administration Office has successfully addressed 459 cases related to unfair transactions, primarily associated with unscrupulous lending practices. Shiva Prasad Lamsal, Assistant Chief District Officer of Parsa, revealed that out of the 1,875 complaints filed online, 459 have been resolved through a justice-oriented discussion method. Two cases have been escalated to the court due to the inability to reach a consensus.
Assistant Chief District Officer Lamsal highlighted that 459 out of 918 registered complaints were settled amicably through mutual agreement between the parties involved. Notably, the investigation led to the return of approximately 16 bighas of land divided among 84 units, and a substantial sum of Rs 88.735 million was refunded with the consent of both parties.
The surge in online complaints against loan sharks primarily centered around lending and land-related transactions. Investigations uncovered instances where individuals paid nominal amounts, yet lenders demanded double or triple the value as collateral, often involving bank cheques.
Lamsal emphasized the thoroughness of the inquiry process, which included summoning witnesses and examining accounts and other documents. The investigation focused on validating the legitimacy of transactions, ensuring that the documented amounts corresponded to the actual needs of the transactions.
In a concerted effort to dispense justice, the District Administration Office sought necessary evidence and fostered consensus. The recovered land and funds signify a significant stride towards addressing the challenges posed by unfair transactions in Parsa.
