The village of Ghuyalneta in Bheri Municipality-1, Jajarkot, is facing a diarrheal outbreak, affecting more than 50 people currently residing in tents following the November 3 earthquake. Local people’s representative Nain Bahadur BK reported the situation, highlighting that the most vulnerable groups are children and the elderly.

Nain Bahadur BK, a ward member, mentioned that each family in the village is grappling with the outbreak. Despite communicating the issue to authorities, no assistance has been provided to date for the affected individuals. Similar cases have also been reported in Daurikanda and Bhun settlements, impacting over 100 families, causing symptoms such as headache, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Dharmashila BK, a resident of the affected village, shared her experience of suffering from the disease for the past two days, citing symptoms like loose bowel movements, headache, vomiting, chest pain, and dizziness. Her six-year-old son has also been affected.

The lack of access to nearby health facilities has exacerbated the situation, causing inconvenience during health emergencies. The Peepay-based Health Centre and Health Section at the local government have been informed of the health emergency, but as of now, there has been no official intervention.

Dr. Pratiksha Bharati, Chief of the Health Service Office in Jajarkot, acknowledged receiving information about the diarrheal outbreak and assured prompt intervention. She mentioned, “It may be cold diarrhea,” indicating awareness of the prevailing conditions. Additionally, various parts of the district are reporting an increase in cases of diarrhea, pneumonia, and respiratory complications, raising concerns about the overall health situation in the area.
