The ‘Cycle City’ Bhairahawa has rolled into Pokhara with a mission to boost community homestays under the banner of “Community Homestay, Our Culture and Tradition.”
This annual initiative, occurring the day after the Bhaitika of the Tihar festival, aims to showcase local products while fostering domestic and bicycle tourism.
Led by Surya Kumar Saru Magar, President of Cycle City Bhairahawa, a dedicated 14-member team embarked on a cycling expedition from Ruppandehi Siddharth Nagar in Rupandehi.
Their primary goal is to promote Magar and Gurung homestays, fostering a deeper connection between tourists and the region’s rich cultural heritage.
The team’s cycling route included stops at Bajkot homestay in Waling and Siruvari homestay in Syangja before reaching Pokhara.
The innovative approach to promoting Nepal’s tourism sector through cycling has garnered praise from local tourism entrepreneur Dilliraj Pandey, who lauded the team’s positive impact on the region.
This year’s journey took the cycling enthusiasts to Supadeurali in Arghakhanchi, Ranimahal in Palpa, and Manungkot in Byas Municipality before reaching the picturesque destination of Pokhara.
The team’s dedication to promoting local homestays and cultural experiences through cycling not only boosts tourism but also strengthens community ties in the Gandaki region.
