The Secretary General of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), Indra Mani Pandey, met with Nepal’s Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, on Wednesday to explore avenues for enhancing regional tourism cooperation.
During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, discussions centered on visa facilitation among BIMSTEC member nations and the development of tourism infrastructure in religious, cultural, and touristic circuits. Minister Pandey highlighted the importance of increasing the BIMSTEC Tourism Fund for its effective implementation and proposed greater collaboration between tourism boards of member countries.
He further emphasized enhancing Nepal’s aviation sector to bolster its global tourism footprint. The BIMSTEC Secretary General acknowledged connectivity as a vital agenda of the organization and reiterated his commitment to supporting Nepal’s tourism sector development.
This meeting underscores the shared goal of strengthening regional cooperation to promote tourism and cultural exchange among BIMSTEC member countries.
