Nepali film 'Gurans' wins award in international festival

At the prestigious Karlovi Vary international film festival in Europe, the Nepali movie “Gurans” got the Jury Award.

Filmmaker Saurav Rai stated that they were overjoyed when the movie received a favorable reception at the festival’s opening night on July 5.

The festival was hosted in the Czech Republic.

“We are thrilled to have won right away in the first show. It has increased our self-assurance and zeal for a frequent showing of the movie, he continued.

Also present at the premiere was the actress from the movie Menuka Pradhan.

Pradhan, who has made a name for herself in the film business, said that taking part in the festival was new to her.

The movie, a collaborative production of Nepal and India, tells the tale through the eyes of a 10-year-old girl who went outside to look for a missing dog.

The film’s narrative, which also depicted how Darjeeling’s economic and social relationships were evolving, was written by director Rai.

The movie’s main character is performed by actor Tulasi Khawas, and Khagendra Lamichhane plays the father.
