Adverse weather conditions have disrupted domestic flight operations across Nepal, with reduced visibility being the primary issue.
While Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu continues to operate both domestic and international flights under Visual Flight Rules (VFR), flights to many regional airports remain grounded. According to TIA spokesperson Rinzy Sherpa, airports in Bhadrapur, Bharatpur, Pokhara, and Surkhet are operational, but others are facing delays or cancellations.
Buddha Air spokesperson Dipendra Kumar Karn stated that dense fog in the Terai region is causing delays, with airports opening later than usual.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported partial impacts of a western low-pressure system, resulting in overcast skies in most provinces. Meteorologist Binu Maharjan noted that Karnali, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, and the eastern parts of Madhes province are experiencing cloudy weather, while Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces are partially cloudy.
Forecast Alert:
The weather is expected to worsen on Monday, with increased cloud cover and light rain likely in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Travelers are advised to stay updated on flight schedules and monitor weather reports.
