Sudanese Doctors Union has reported on Monday that the death toll from the armed clashes between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has risen to 863.

“Since the beginning of the fighting, 863 civilians have died and 3,531 have been injured,” the nongovernmental organization said in a statement.

In its most recent report on Sunday, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that since the conflict began on April 15, more than one million people have fled to secure locations within and outside Sudan.

In addition, more than 843,100 people are internally displaced in Sudan, and more than 248,000 have crossed into neighboring countries, including Central African Republic, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Sudan.

The Sudanese Army and the RSF signed the Agreement on a Short-Term Cease-fire and Humanitarian Arrangements in the Saudi Arabian port city of Jeddah on Saturday night, with Saudi and American sponsorship.

The seven-day ceasefire will begin on Monday at 9:45 p.m. local time (19:45 GMT).

According to the agreement, the parties will protect civilians from violence, harassment, recruitment, and other forms of abuse, as well as refrain from violating international human rights law.

The parties shall also provide security guarantees for humanitarian organizations’ safe, unimpeded access.

Since April 15, Sudan has witnessed deadly armed confrontations between the Sudanese Army and the RSF in Khartoum and other areas.
